Siouxland Freedom Park to Build New Visitors’ Center

Siouxland Freedom Park to Build New Visitors’ Center

South Sioux City, Nebraska

Siouxland Freedom Park will welcome the addition of a new 5000 square foot Visitors’ Center this year. The newly designed structure created by architect Scott Anderson of Cannon, Moss, Brygger and Associates represents a more affordable alternative to the original award winning 12,000 square foot building designed by the same firm.

The new edifice will incorporate many of the original design elements while offering economies of scale that will permit construction to be completed this calendar year. The Siouxland Freedom Park steering committee and board feel strongly that the Center must be in place as soon as possible. The schedule calls for excavation and site preparation to commence in April with a tentative completion date set for October. General contractors are being interviewed now.

Concurrently, Siouxland Freedom Park is announcing a six-month $500,000 fundraising campaign to allow the Visitors’ Center to be financed with current funds and to allow the inauguration of the exhibits plan. Both static and traveling displays as well as state of the art interactive electronic features will permit visitors of all ages to experience and appreciate the contributions of veterans from Revolutionary War days to the present.

Donations may be made to Siouxland Freedom Park at PO Box 1356 Sioux City, Iowa 51101. Siouxland Freedom Park, Incorporated is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
