Seasonal Water/Sewer Position
The City of South Sioux City is seeking a seasonal water and sewer worker. This position will report to the Water/Sewer Foreman.
This is a seasonal position with no benefits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Installs, repairs and maintains the water distribution, sewer collection and storm drain systems (including retention ponds); operates and maintains pumping stations and camera equipment in the City’s sewer collection system; services, maintains and repairs chlorination stations; operates and services equipment used in the repair, installation and maintenance of the systems including, but not limited to: compressors, jack hammers, backhoes, trenchers, tractors, and any other assigned light and heavy equipment; performs groundwater sampling; responds to customer calls; provides training and guidance in areas of specialization to unskilled workers; participates in after hours emergency call-out duties; and performs other duties as assigned. Physical demands include but are not limited to frequent lifting of objects up to 100 lbs., often combined with bending, twisting, working above ground or on irregular surfaces. Continuous exposure to unpleasant elements such as dust, fumes and odors, hazardous materials, dampness, raw sewage, high noise levels, and outside weather conditions. Due to State mandates, employees may be required to use a self-contained breathing.
Seasonal Street Operator I Position
The City of South Sioux City is seeking a seasonal street operator I. This position will report to the Street Foreman.
This is a seasonal position with no benefits. Maintains municipal roads and rights-of-way in safe condition by performing the following duties:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Drives light and heavy duty motor vehicles.
Dumps, spreads, and tamps asphalt with equipment or by hand to patch broken or eroded pavement.
Operates hand and power equipment (i.e., jackhammer).
Operates all heavy equipment utilized by the City.
Drives snow removal equipment, consisting of truck or tractor equipped with adjustable snowplow and blower unit.
Trims and cuts trees and or bushes in public right of way with an approximate maximum diameter of 18 inches, and no higher than chest high.
Operates paint striper.
Performs heavy manual labor (i.e., digging holes and ditches with hand tools).
Meter Reader Position
The City of South Sioux City is seeking a part time Meter Reader. This position will report to the City Clerk.
Job duties will include but are not limited to reading and recording meter readings, inspect meters and connections for defects, damage and unauthorized connections. Turns service on or off as directed. Performs other duties as assigned.
