To comemorate African History Month, the library will present the movie Sounder.The movie is based on the Newbery Prize winning story by William H. Armstrong. It stars Cicely Tyson and Paul Winfield.
In the movie, Nathan Lee Morgan ,(Winfield) an African-American sharecropper, steals food from his neighbor in order to feed his starving family. He is arrested, leaving his wife Rebecca (Tyson) and his children to endure the hardships in the Depression-era South. Sounder is a story of a boy and his dog and a family's triumph over adversity.
