Nebraska Spirit:  The North Platte Canteen.  Charlotte Endorf will speak at the South Sioux City Public Library on Saturday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m.  Her topic is “Nebraska Spirit:  the North Platte Canteen”.

During World War II, American soldiers from across the country rolled through North Platte, Nebraska, on troop trains en route to Europe and the Pacific.  Learn the story of the community that turned a railroad depot into a legend and touched the lives of more than six million soldiers from 1942 to 1946.

Charlotte Endorf is a lifelong Nebraskan. Charlotte has authored nine books on the Orphan Train, the North Platte Canteen.

Nebraska Spirit:  the North Platte Canteen is part of the 2015 One Book One Siouxland programming.

This program is made possible with funds from the Nebraska Humanities Council Speakers' Bureau.
